Learning tunes is the goal for any banjo player. Tunes give us music to enjoy and a reason to pick up the instrument. But the more clearly we understand the basic mechanics beneath them, the more freedom we have when we play.

My background as a professional drummer taught me to pay close attention to rhythm and movement. I brought that same focus to clawhammer, breaking the style down into practical building blocks that students can use in any tune.

Banjo Quest teaches you how clawhammer actually works. New tunes come easier, and the ones you learned years ago start giving up things you couldn't hear in them before.
